Manawatū has outstanding places to grab a bite to eat, both in the city and in the countryside. In Feilding, some standouts include Essence Café & Bar, Focal Point Cafe and The Strong Room. In the wider region, Ginger Bird in Colyton is a café not to be missed, along with The Herb Farm Café in Ashhurst. Check out the iconic Āpiti Tavern with world-famous smoked meats and barbeque, or pop into Hansen’s Café and Store in Kimbolton for another great spot for lunch.

Explore

Explore the great landscapes of Manawatū. Consider taking a hike, or a scenic cycle through some of Manawatū’s natural wonders, and local history. If you’d prefer to stay local, pop to the Friday morning Feilding Farmers Market or check out Feilding's world-class The Coach House Museum.

In the delightful town of Kimbolton, take a walk through the award-winning Cross Hills Gardens or for something a bit more challenging, take on the Rangiwahia Hut Track. Discover more of Northern Manawatū’s scenic activities ranging from picnic and swimming spots to glow worm caves.

For a must do on your visit, take the short drive out to the iconic Te Āpiti - Manawatū Gorge. Explore the two-hour Tawa Loop with stunning views of the magnificent geographical structure formed over thousands of years. You’ll even meet the immortalised ancient Māori Chief, Whatonga along the way.

In the city, you’ll discover He Ara Kotahi, a beautiful new riverside pathway waiting to be explored. For some added fun, Electric Bikes Plus have you covered with electric bike, scooter and skateboard hire to zip around. If you’re after an adrenaline rush, Arapuke Park is a premier mountain bike destination atop the Tararua Ranges, just minutes from the city. Offering over 30km of mixed grade trails, it’s a must for those after a two-wheeled adventure while you are here.
